Pablo Escobar, who is infamously known as the World’s Greatest Outlaw, lived quite an extraordinary life as a Colombian drug lord. He is the most successful criminal in history. He made his fame and fortune through the demise of others. In 1989, he was even declared one of the richest men in the world by Forbes magazine estimating his personal wealth to be around $9 billion.

Escobar began his criminal career early in life, he was quite an accomplished car thief by the time that he was 20 years old. Before entering into the drug business, he began making a significant amount of money being a thief and bodyguard, and then later, kidnapped a Medellin executive for ransom. He then began working for Alvaro Prieto, a contraband smuggler, which made Escobar a millionaire by the age of 22.

Escobar began the development of his Cocaine business in 1975, even flying planes himself to smuggle Cocaine into the United States. As the demand for Cocaine here in the United States began to grow, Escobar worked with George Jung and Carlos Lehder to organize various routes and distribution networks into different parts of the United States. By the early 1980’s, the Medellin Cartel controlled the majority of the drugs that entered into the United States.

The demise of the great Pablo Escobar began with the assassination of presidential candidate, Luis Carlos Galan which caused the Colombian government to move in on him. Eventually, he escaped from his own luxurious prison only to be tracked down later by the United States and Colombian governments. As Escobar and his bodyguard tried to escape once again, he was shot in the ear which was the final blow for him.
